A special permit is issued for a specific area at your event. This is the only area at your event where alcoholic beverages may be sold and consumed for on-premises consumption (no off-premises sales allowed).
The area must be described in the application and may include bleachers or grandstands.
You may apply for a special permit using our TransAction Portal (TAP), or use the Special Permit Application to Sell Beer and Table Wine (Form SPECPERM).
If you are applying for an unlicensed veterans' or fraternal organization, you may use the Montana Application for Special Permit (Unlicensed Veterans'/Fraternal Organization) (Form SPVetFr).
A licensed domestic winery may use the Montana Application for Special Permit to Sell Table Wine (Licensed Domestic Winery Only) (Form WinSpec).
Your local law enforcement agency must grant permission for your event by signing your application before you submit it to the department.
